The 2026 Chengdu Biennale is a landmark international art event hosted at the Chengdu Art Museum. Themed “Pulse of Life,” this biennale draws inspiration from Chengdu’s unique “yanhuo” (vibrant, warm daily life) culture—celebrating the city’s laid-back yet lively spirit—and weaves it together with rational, global artistic observation to explore the connections between life, culture, tradition, and modernity.

Gathering a diverse lineup of 251 artists from 29 countries across 5 continents, the exhibition showcases a total of 328 artworks, with over 40% being international contributions, ensuring a global perspective while honoring local roots. These works span a wide range of artistic forms, including immersive installations, contemporary paintings, sculptural pieces, cutting-edge digital art, video works, and classic Chinese artworks—each telling a unique story about life, memory, and cultural dialogue.

Organized into 6 carefully curated exhibition sections, each with a distinct focus: from exploring the intersection of ancient Shu civilization (Chengdu’s historical heritage) and contemporary art, to examining the relationship between urban life and artistic expression, to celebrating the diversity of global cultural identities through art. The biennale also features interactive art experiences, allowing visitors to engage closely with the works and deepen their understanding of the “Pulse of Life” theme.

Open to the public free of charge (advance reservation via the official Chengdu Art Museum WeChat account is required), the exhibition aims to break down barriers between art and daily life, connect traditional Sichuan culture with contemporary global art trends, and position Chengdu as a key platform for international cultural exchange. It invites visitors from around the world to experience the city’s warmth, artistic vitality, and the universal “pulse” that unites all forms of life and creativity.

On April 30, 2026, the “Steel of Glory—A Knight’s Life of Armor, Blade, and Honor”, jointly hosted by Chengdu Museum and the Musei Reali Torino of Italy, is set to kick off at Chengdu Museum.

Featuring a curated collection of 140 pieces/sets of armor, weapons, paintings, documents, seals, and other artifacts from the Musei Reali Torino, the exhibition aims to showcase the knightly culture across centuries.

白垩纪的回响：隅见地球最后的恐龙盛世

The exhibition primarily features Cretaceous dinosaur fossils discovered in Henan. It covers a different period from the museum’s existing permanent dinosaur exhibition. No fewer than 55 pieces or sets of dinosaur fossils, models, and relevant exhibits across various categories are presented.
以河南地区发现的白垩纪恐龙化石为主要展品，区别于本馆目前基本陈列中的恐龙展览的时代区间。计划展出各类恐龙化石、模型及相关展品不少于55件套。

With the support of several Chengdu Comedy Club Comedians！

Emily 

A New Yorker who has been performing standup in Chongqing since 2021. Her comedic influences include Maria Bamford and James Acaster, and in her act, she addresses the absurdity of living in this modern world. You can also find her on 微信 at 脱口秀Emily, where she is visiting every stop on the Chongqing Metro, and she is the writer for the YouTube channel Chongqing Punk, which features gonzo short essays about technology and cats.

Luke

Scottish Luke (a.k.a Western Chocolate) has been doing comedy for 5 years. He wears a shiny gold jacket and delivers short sharp jokes, stories and songs for most of the family. He has 15 followers on red note.

Vivi

A writer who has been publishing short novels and essays in Chinese since she was a primary school student. Now she uses another name to talk about whatever pops in her head, mainly gossip about people she knows, who don’t come to the comedy show anyway. Vivi has recently developed an interest in one-liner and cringe comedy. If you’re afraid of being offended, look away.

Jerome
Jerome came all the way from Chongqing! He started to do comedy 3 years ago. His sense of humor has been called “an acquired taste.” Think Hendrick’s Gin with a twist of social commentary and a dash of rice wine. He’s fab, he’s armed with a microphone, and he’s not sorry.

Hammer
Hammer is a Chongqing local who somehow ended up doing stand-up comedy for over six years—in both Chinese and English. He’s not a naturally gifted comedian. In fact, he’s the opposite: hardworking, slightly twisted, and darkly humorous. If you’ve ever felt like an ordinary person with no special talent, come watch an ordinary comedian. You might just see your own shadow. And then laugh at it.
