Profile
Have you ever dreamed of being a high-stakes executive in an advertising agency?
A Don Draper with a glass of whiskey in one hand, and a million dollar idea in the other
How about a world famous artist? A real dreamer whose every painting is capable of moving thousands to tears, and each word you speak inspiring a new generation of ideas…
Like marketing, art is a creative process that involves inspiration, dedication, and execution. Each color generates an emotional response, and every image is carefully chosen to represent the idea, or theme, that the artist/advertising company wants you to experience.
For two days only, Oceanic Drive Picture’s exhibition Exposure invites you to be a part of the creative process and literally walk in the shoes of a big-shot dreamer and problem solver.
So how does it work?
The 5 room exhibition at the Hong Art Museum is divided into 3 sections, or “themes,” designed to take you from 0%-100% of the creative process. Each section will offer groundbreaking visual, artistic, and interactive installations for you to experience and draw inspiration from.
Although the exhibition will feature performance artists “on set” that includes rollerskating waiters and waitresses, you are not allowed to simply sit back and enjoy the show. You are a part of it.
After choosing a new identity and prop at the beginning, your personal exhibition begins…
Step One
0%
Your character is incased in a digital prison
In this world, what you see is only what others want you to see. You are both the consumer and the product. How can you escape?
The first section features several interactive and conceptual elements designed to mimic the process of inspiration, brainstorming, and collective problem solving to generate an idea.
Step Two
50%
So you have an idea, now what?
Arrange a board meeting and execute your plan!
This next section puts you in an actual conference room as “Party B.” With your creative expertise, you must solve a problem for Party A by the end of the exhibition.
These three rooms simulate the process of deconstructing and reassembling creative ideas. They feature a wide variety of visual effects, light effects, and even actors.
Step Three
99.9%
The Birth of a Dream
The last step of the creative process is the “ignition” phase. Like a match to a flame, once an idea has hatched, it must be put into action. This third section features a display room full of screens, lights, and audio-visual components. It is the grand finale to your ideas, and the exhibition hall for our collective creativity.
Yet, the exhibition doesn’t end there.
Before leaving the fantastical world of Exposure behind and assuming your “real identity” again, you must still solve the problem and make sure to leave your mark on the world… literally.
The final section of Exposure features an “Interactive Experience Zone.”
Here, you will not only enjoy the creative happenings around you, but will step beyond the borders of your 9-to-5 lifestyle and enter an entirely new world, one that is immersive, colorful, and entirely fantastical! Don’t be afraid to put your thinking cap on and experience the Birth of a Dream…
The end result will be a user-generated piece of art that grows more beautiful over time and represents the collective creativity of our future.
Although the exhibition is over, the creative process is never complete. When one project is completed, another one begins. Don’t be afraid to get inspired, have a vision, pick up a pen or paintbrush, pitch your idea, and dream a little.
