The theme for this month is “Business with a Social Impact (2)”.
After the guest speaker panel we will hold an open “5 minute pitch” for those who want to share the businesses they are currently working on or get feedback on their ideas.
This is a free event and all are welcome to attend.

1. Hyobin Sung 成学彬
Founder & CEO of 二手二故事 | Second Hand Second Story
Hyo is a Korean-American who founded Chengdu’s first consignment shop that engages the community to rethink “consumerism” in our globalized market—looking good and feeling good is affordable and fun. Second Han Second Story focuses on organizing informative and fun social events surrounding lifestyle of being a more conscious consumer and building a fun community through exchanging information.
Her fondness in life is finding alternative POV for solving problems. Her professional background derives from her work in Washington, D.C. with organizations in fundraising, workshops & events, program development, leadership development, public relations, and social media.
She is always excited for collaborations and finding intersections among diverse group of people and communities to connect.
2. Mark L. Takefman
ODA, fund raiser and project leader – Chengdu Urban Rivers Association
Mark has worked in business development and administration for over 30 years and has been an organizational development consultant in the citizen sector in Canada, the USA, India and China for over two decades. He has sat on community service boards and committees in Canada and the US as well as being a volunteer for many organisations.
As an Organizational Development Advisor Mark has conducted workshops and training courses, mentored staff and has lead expeditions. He presently is working with the Chengdu Urban Rivers Association in Chengdu, China as ODA, fund raiser and project leader. He also advises to the Gyan Disha Vikas Sansthan School in Balotra, Rajasthan, India.
3. Richard Beach
Environmental Designer and Architect – Urban Hybrid Architecture / RARA Studio
A Graduate of The University of Tasmania School of Architecture and Design, Richard has
extensive experience in Australia and Asia in all scales of design and architecture from graphic design and furniture making through to large scale residential and master planning projects.
He brings a wealth of skills in sustainable architecture and environmental thinking to projects and is a strong advocate of achieving sustainability for people, planet and profit.
Having experience in multiple countries and in a variety of settings Richard is able to work across cultures and scales to achieve a holistic, quality design response in any situation.

Jordan Porter
Founder at Chengdu Food Tours and Sichuan based food writer.
Based in Chengdu since 2010, Jordan created CD Food Tours in 2015 to share a candid and personal side of the city with visitors by way of its incredible cuisine. CD Food Tours focuses on stories around food and culture, as well as our food sources, and in addition to walking city tours he leads foraging expeditions into the hills of the Sichuan countryside. When not leading tours, he collects stories of food, people and places and writes about them for a variety of local and international media.
For the last 2.5 years, the Chengdu Entrepreneurship Meetup brings business people together on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.
