Découpage art workshop｜ Chengdu & Lyon the twin Cities of Silk
Chengdu, the birthplace of sericulture and silk reeling, was a renowned silk hub in the Han and Tang dynasties. Marco Polo praised it as a “capital of brocade”. Lyon in France, famous as the “European Capital of Silk”, shares a romantic bond with Chengdu, and the two cities connected by silk had a special connection in the late 19th century.
From the 1895-1897 records of Lyon’s Chamber of Commerce, Chengdu was hailed as the “Chinese Lyon” for its silk trade. This weekend, i Docent will share the silk bond between Chengdu and Lyon. You can also join a workshop merging French Découpage with Oriental brocade to create cross-time fashion.
