ABOUT BLUE FOUNDATION
Blue Foundation is a Danish electronic dream pop duo formed in Copenhagen in 1999, emerging from the city’s then grey, rain-soaked atmosphere long before it became the vibrant capital it is today. Inspired by Mark E. Smith’s approach with The Fall, the project grew around a rotating cast of musicians and a fluid, evolving collaboration that kept the sound in constant motion, with Tobias Wilner as a central figure. Since 2010, the core of the band has centered around producer and multi-instrumentalists Tobias Wilner and Bo Rande, who split their time between Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, and Copenhagen, Denmark. From the beginning, Blue Foundation has worked independently, producing and recording all of their music in their own studio. The visual side of the band has always developed alongside the sound, with original artwork and self-directed videos shaping a cohesive and deeply personal universe.
Renowned for their distinctive, cinematic sound, Blue Foundation blends electronic, ambient, shoegaze, and dream pop into lush, hypnotic soundscapes defined by ethereal melodies and haunting vocals. Clash Music dubs their style “blissful, dream-like electronic pop,” while Far Out Magazine calls it “a deeply hypnotic blend of cinematic soundscapes and haunting melodies – a sonic experience that captures raw emotion and timeless mystery.”
Line of Best Fit describes their music as “a celestial escapade, with astral synths buffeted by solar winds and bass fizzing throughout.”
ABOUT XIE YUGANG
Renowned musician and contemporary composer Xie Yugang will open the night with some very rare solo performances. Bridging the gap between the Chinese alternative scene and global avant-garde, these shows promise to deliver genre-defying sonic experiences.
These shows span improvisational experiments from new and older work and guest collaboration with Blue Foundation, showcasing Xie Yugang’s diverse range as a central creative force in China’s avant-garde music scene. As the leading force of Wang Wen – a band that has accompanied countless post-rock fans – Xie’s music remains deeply connected to the sea, to contradictions, and to the industrial landscape of northern China. Beyond his work with Wang Wen, he has an extensive body of solo and collaborative work, including the ambient album Echo Library and the experimental collaboration with legendary French guitarist Serge Teyssot-Gay, “A Century of Frames” as well as guitar features on the latest Blue Foundation album “Close to the Knife” These upcoming performances offer fans a rare opportunity to experience Xie Yugang’s exploratory musical spirit outside the context of Wang Wen
