Startup Weekend is a weekend long event that lasts a total of 54 hours designed teach through taking action! The event begins with open mic pitches on Friday, followed by an opportunity for anyone to share their business ideas, create teams and get feedback. Teams will be able to present their findings in front of leading local entrepreneur, get practical evaluation and feedback.
Participants will be able to create working startups during the event and are able to collaborate with like-minded individuals outside of their daily networks. Industry leaders will be giving speeches and presentation which teams can listen to as well as receiving valuable feedback from local entrepreneurs.
Chengdu Startup Weekend responds to the Global Startup Weekend announcement and joins the campaign to promote sustainable development around the world! In the two weekends of June 14-16 and June 21-23, more than 50 cities around the world will hold Startup Weekend with the theme of “sustainable development”. We encourage all participants to contribute to a variety of sustainability challenges. As the event organizer, we will also implement the principle of “zero waste”. All organizers, volunteers and participants are required to bring their own cups and cutlery to help the “sustainability” of the Startup Weekend!
Sustainable Development
Sustainable development is the organizing principle for meeting human development goals while at the same time sustaining the ability of natural systems to provide the natural resources and ecosystem services upon which the economy and society depend. Sustainable development can be classified as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations.
In September 2015, the United Nations General Assembly formally adopted the “universal, integrated and transformative” 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The goals are to be implemented andachieved in every country from the year 2016 to 2030.
