4 Reviews on “SPGS International School Chengdu”
My child has thrived immensely at this international school. The learning environment is truly inspiring, combining academic rigor with a strong focus on holistic development. The diverse and experienced teaching faculty goes above and beyond to nurture each student’s individual potential.
Beyond textbooks, the wide array of extracurricular activities has been instrumental in building confidence, leadership, and a genuine global mindset. The emphasis on critical thinking and open communication is preparing my child exceptionally well for future challenges. We are very grateful for the supportive and stimulating community the school has created.
As a parent, I’m so proud to see how much my child has grown through the LAMDA program this term. Their confidence in speaking clearly and expressing emotions through verse and prose has truly blossomed. Thank you for creating such a supportive and inspiring learning journey!
I have friends who sent their children to this school. They like this school a lot. They said the teachers are very caring and professional. I heard a lot of good things about SPGS since I moved to Chengdu for work. I plan to send my child to this school as well. but my son is too small now , need to wait a bit.
We recently had to withdraw our child from SPGS Chengdu due to unresolved staffing issues in the Junior School and a complete lack of communication from senior leadership. Despite multiple attempts to speak with both the Head and the Principal, we were ignored for weeks.
To make matters worse, the school refused to return our RMB 30,000 deposit. There was no transparency or support, which is unacceptable from a school of this calibre.
As foreign parents, we felt completely disregarded. Communication was often unclear, and translations were rarely provided. The school operates more like a fortress than a welcoming learning environment, parents are not allowed to enter the school without prior permission, and we were only allowed to see our child’s classroom twice during the entire school year.
Families should be aware that when problems arise, you’ll be left on your own. Leadership does not prioritise the wellbeing of children, and ultimately, it’s families who pay the price, emotionally and financially.
We strongly advise other parents to be cautious and not to mistake surface-level professionalism for genuine care. Our experience was deeply disappointing and costly.
