After a year of interruption due to the health situation, the Festival Croisements returns even more creative, avant-garde and festive, determined to celebrate its 15th edition. From April 21 to July 31, 2021, it will unite the general public, artists and institutions around a plural program and celebrate the “crosses” between France and China, in all artistic disciplines.

The national press conference hosted by talk-show actor Li Song took place on Tuesday, April 20 at the French Embassy in China. In the presence of Laurent Bili – the French Ambassador to China, along with many cultural figures and 89 journalists responded to the invitation to preview the 78 programmes offered in 14 cities.

In addition, this year’s festival is supported by three renowned Chinese artistic personalities: actor Jin Dong, actress Tong Liya and fashion designer Shangguan Zhe.

By presenting renowned institutions and artists alongside young talents, the programming will satisfy all the desires for discovery and the most demanding specialists. Projects combining photography, video art, sculpture and installation will invite you to dive into exceptional works and enjoy visual art differently.

Recognized today as one of the greatest photographers of his generation, Antoine D’Agata offers us a unique way to look at the health crisis in France. From the first day of lockdown following the Covid-19 epidemic, he roamed the streets of Paris with a thermal device to record, in his own way, the viral episode. The solo exhibition by the artist Vincent Cazeneuve presents a series of recent works including the result of exploration on different materials, his complicit links with the environment, nature and the collectors of Chinese lacquer raw materials. Having based in southwestern China for more than ten years to unravel the secret of Chinese lacquerware, a traditional craft, the artist feeds his work with Western and Eastern influences, composite materials and mixed techniques, like so many intertwined narratives.

The Champs-Elysees Orchestra is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year! The festivities related to this anniversary will celebrate the precipitation and strength of time through a series of events and interpretation on historical instruments. While keeping its ambition of discovery, or rather rediscovery, the orchestra at the Champs-Elysees Theater in 1991 has evolved considerably: Mahler, Bruckner, Debussy, and more recently Richard Strauss and Wagner have joined in the repertoire of the past decade, and, in addition to delving into the works of the great masters of the strictly classical and romantic eras, as well as the Baroque masters of the longer period. Under the framework of the 15th China-France Cultural Spring Festival, the Champs-Elysees Orchestra will pay tribute to Beethoven. The concert will be recorded in Poitiers, France, followed by a video broadcast to audiences in Chengdu and Wuhan.
