US Consulate in Chengdu Closing in Retaliation for Houston
The United States Consulate General at Chengdu opened on October 16, 1985 and closed end of July 2020 as a response to the US government closure of the China Consulate in Houston.
The Chengdu consular district was made up of the provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guizhou, as well as the Tibet Autonomous Region and Chongqing City Municipality.
