Rules on Carrying Bicycles by Train in China

China Railway’s official ticketing platform, 12306, provides clear guidelines on bringing bicycles aboard:

1. Bicycles must be disassembled (front and rear wheels removed) and properly packaged before entering the station. The packed bicycle must comply with luggage limits: 20 kg for adults, 10 kg for children, with total dimensions not exceeding 160 cm (130 cm for high-speed trains). Items exceeding these limits must be shipped as freight.

2. Riding or pushing bicycles inside stations or train carriages is strictly prohibited, as is any conduct that endangers public safety.

3. Bicycles may not occupy aisles or seats and must be stored under seats or in designated luggage areas.
