Gene Krell:
Often referred to as a “legend’ in fashion business. Krell began his work in the sixties at his London based shop “Granny takes a trip,” where he designed clothes for the Beatles, Queen, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Elton John and so on. He is credited with creating “Rock fashion” and “Glam Rock”. Following this, Gene went on to work with Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McClaren in the development of “Punk”. He went on to publish a popular book on the experience with them called “Universe of Fashion.” Westwood has called Gene “the single most important figure in the history of pop fashion.” In 1998 he launched Vogue Korea then, Vogue Taiwan and Vogue Japan, while he still acted as Creative Director for GQ China, Vogue China and Vogue India.
Naoko Inagaki Krell Gene’s Wife
A graduate of the prestigious Bunka Fashion College, Naoko Inagaki Krell is a world recognized display installation artist, photographer, stylist and writer having worked throughout the region. As collaborative artist for French company Goyard, her work has been featured in Vogue Korea, Vogue Japan and GQ Japan as well as a having a popular Vogue Japan Blog. Her first Photo book “Footsteps in silence” has received worldwide critical acclaim. She has also done ad campaigns as a stylist for Pierre Marcolini chocolate, style works for fashion brand Loewe and installation works for Barney’s Japan.
