Since 2010, the French artist SONAC has been pasting his photos of animals on walls, in the city, in the street, in the wasteland or in the construction sites. She works in the form of ephemeral installations, fusions of art and life. At the bend of a crossroad, art intends to operate by surprise in daily life and cause the public to question themselves. Modifying the conditions of perception, she awakens the attention, inquiries the viewers by offering them a new perspective on a known place : the street becomes a backdrop, and in this moment of doubt, the viewer is a part of the backdrop. The animals find here a new dignity since in this place, they are at the centre of creation, with meanings, imagination and metaphors. If we are reconnecting our childhood and its fascination to animals, with the myths they generated and the tales in which they are the heroes?
This year, on the occasion of the 7th Franco-Chinese Month of Environment and of the European Culture Season in Chengdu, SONAC’s animals will be exhibited for the first time in China, in large format, in the streets of Chengdu, Shenyang, Harbin and Beijing.
