The bookstore is conveniently located in Dujiangyan, just over an hour from downtown Chengdu. It draws design inspiration from the region’s ancient irrigation system. Designed by X+Living, the space feels like a magical maze. You’ll find mirrored ceilings, winding staircases, and bookshelves that seem to go on forever.
Inside, the two-level layout features shiny black tile floors and dramatic archways. Ceiling mirrors reflect everything below, creating a surreal illusion. It’s almost like stepping into a real-life M.C. Escher drawing. According to designer Li Xiang, “The mirror ceiling is the signature of Zhongshuge. It effectively extends the space by reflection.”
Zhongshuge has several locations across China. However, the Dujiangyan branch is especially unique. It combines traditional Chinese elements with bold, modern design. As a result, browsing here becomes an immersive, unforgettable experience.
