2026 Chengdu Europe Culture Season
2026成都·欧洲文化季
2026 Chengdu Europe Culture Season, the 9th edition of this flagship cultural exchange event, runs from April 16 to July 2026 across multiple venues in Chengdu, highlighting cultural dialogue and people-to-people bonds between Chengdu and Europe.
Co-organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of Chengdu Municipal People’s Government, European embassies and consulates in China, the EU Delegation to China, and international sister cities, the season upholds the principles of openness, sharing, and public benefit, offering residents and visitors free access to high-quality international cultural experiences.
Marking the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Austria, Austria serves as the Guest of Honour for 2026. The opening ceremony on April 16 at Chengdu City Concert Hall featured the world-renowned Vienna Girls’ Choir—on its first-ever tour outside Europe—performing alongside local youth choirs and symphony orchestras, blending classics like *Edelweiss* and *Jasmine Flower* in a cross-cultural musical celebration.
Throughout the three-month season, Chengdu partners with more than 10 European countries—including Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Ireland, Finland, and Greece—to present around 13–14 curated events spanning art exhibitions, classical and contemporary concerts, theatrical performances, film weeks, art salons, and interactive themed activities. Most activities are free of charge, though might need registration.
Since its launch in 2017, Chengdu Europe Culture Season has delivered over 110 vibrant events, evolving into a key bridge of friendship and a premier platform for cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and artistic resonance between Chengdu and Europe.
