Citywalk Activity invites you to add a lively, down-to-earth vibe to your Chengdu life. Join us as we follow the veins of old Chengdu’s streets and alleys on a “Wandering Manchu City” journey. From the Western Suburb River to People’s Park, we’ll decode the past of Shaocheng, uncover the architectural secrets behind Kuanzhai Alleys, hear the old Chengdu memories hidden in the lanes, and unlock the thousand-year stories of this ancient city.
What We’ll Explore:
⭐ Following the Western Suburb River, trace the vanished Jin River and the rise and fall of the thousand-year-old Shaocheng;
⭐ Walking along Tonghuimen Road and Shiye Street, decipher the clever layout of the fishbone-shaped lanes, and appreciate the fusion beauty of northern hutongs and Sichuan folk houses;
⭐ Strolling down Tongren Road, looking back at the life changes of the Eight Banners residents in the Qing Dynasty through the tides of time;
⭐ Passing Zhiji Stone, feeling the historical imprint of Chengdu’s plain stone culture;
⭐ Stopping at Chengdu Painting Academy, experiencing the overall style of Sichuan folk houses and touching their architectural details;
⭐ Entering the Kuanzhai Alleys area, not just viewing the grey bricks and tiles, but also listening to the old Chengdu stories hidden in the building details;
⭐ Turning into Shizi Alley, getting close to the century-old roots of the Mongolian medical family in Chengdu;
⭐ Passing Jinhe Hotel and Nuli Restaurant, arriving at People’s Park, looking back at century-old culinary legends and the evolution of urban public spaces.
