Hi there,
I’m a theatre maker based in Melbourne Australia (of Kiwi origin).
I’ll be in Chendgu June through September 2018 undertaking a residency with a brilliant local independent theatre. I’ll be running the creative development of a new theatre show through this time and I’m looking for collaborators.
The generic blurb runs thus…
“The Modern Fairy Tale Project is a theatre making collaboration between Chinese and Australian artists. Exploring themes and ideas found in stories that are popular in the Western world but which have a Chinese origin (such as Lon Po Po/Little Red Riding Hood, Yeh-Shen/Cinderella etc.) the project seeks to create a contemporary fable that helps young audiences and their families develop deeper cultural understandings as well as be thoroughly entertained.”
This will be a fun project and will run on week-nights/weekends through August and September (with a little prep beforehand). The final schedule will be worked out to the best for all involved – so it can fit around other commitments. I’d suggest about 12 nights or days all up of in-studio time as a guideline for commitment.
I’m specifically looking for a performer interested in a physical theatre project, plus a musician to join the composing team. However, if you’re keen to flex your theatre making muscles in any capacity (lighting, set or costume design, digital programmer, choreographer, photographer/videographer, volunteer, intern etc.) don’t hesitate to get in touch for a chat if this project is of interest to you.
I’m also interested in hearing from anyone who has general interest in this project – I’ll be running some feedback sessions, we hope to have a showing of the work so do feel free to drop me a line of you’d like to know more.
