March 21 to 23: 100th China Food & Drinks Fair (Tangjiuhui)
China Food & Drinks Fair “Tangjiuhui” is one of China’s largest annual events focusing on the food, wine and the beverage industry. The official 100th China Sugar & Wine Fair will be held from March 21st until March 23rd at the Western China International Exposition City.
From March 15 to 20, many Chengdu hotels will be hosting smaller fairs. The biggies are:
- Kempinksi
- Sofitel
- Renaissance
- Jinjiang Hotel
- Minshan Hotel
Traffic around these hotels during the fair gets really congested, so avoid travelling by car through these areas, or ensure you leave enough time for the delays.
Just like the previous year, the 100th China Sugar & Wine Fair will be held at Western China International Exposition City (No. 88 East Fuzhou Road). If you haven’t been there before, it is VAST – covering an area of approximately 210,000 ㎡ with more than 4000 exhibitors.
The fair brings a wide variety of food and beverage vendors together (baijiu, other spirits, wine, beer, spices, food additives, etc), but also food packaging machinery, raw ingredients, food machinery production, and much more.
If you’re expected the food festival like the ones you may have been to at home and planning a leisurely day out – The Sugar and Wine Fair is not this. It’s mostly focussed on business to business sales and has was recently described as ‘messy sales, crowded fair’… spot on.
