The 114th China Food & Drinks Fair (Chengdu)

• China Food & Drinks Fair “Tángjiǔhuì 糖酒会”, or Sugar and Wine, is the largest alcoholic beverage trade fair in China, focusing on the food, wine and the beverage industry.

• The 114th official China Sugar & Wine Fair will be held from March 26th until 28th at two of Chengdu’s largest exhibition centres. Spanning 325,000 square meters, the fair will gather more than 6,600 exhibitors to fully display cutting-edge industry trends and advancements.

• Days before this event, many Chengdu hotels will be hosting smaller offshoot fairs. Lots of hotels are full, and many more boozy events will be taking place around town.

• Leave more time for travel whilst the fair is in town, as it can lead to lots of congestion on the roads.

Until March 21-25 (free):

Many hotels, such as Kempinski (7 Floors), Shangri-La, Taihe Int.’l Hotel, Wanda Reign, The Renaissance, Jinjiang Hotel, Minshan Hotel, Sheraton Lido, among many others.

Traffic around these hotels during the fair gets really congested, so avoid traveling by car through these areas, or ensure you leave enough time for the delays.

March 26-28 (daily 09:00 – 16:30, ticketed):
The big exhibitions each have a different focus and will be held at both the New International Convention & Exhibition Centre (focus on beverages: Chinese liquor, wine, beer, low-alcohol liquor, wine, international spirits, dairy products and more) AND the Western China International Exposition City (focus on food: food machinery, condiments and ingredients, imported food, snacks, baked goods, packaging, supply chain and much more).

If you haven’t been there before, both places are VAST – covering an area of approximately 325,000 ㎡. Both exhibition centers will host 6,600 exhibitors, showcasing hundreds of thousands of products.

The fair brings a wide variety of food and beverage vendors together (baijiu, other spirits, wine, beer, spices, food additives, etc), but also food packaging machinery, raw ingredients, food machinery production, and much more.

If you’re expected the food festival like the ones you may have been to at home and planning a leisurely day out – The Sugar and Wine Fair is not this. It’s mostly focused on business to business sales and has was recently described as ‘messy sales, crowded fair’… spot on.
