[:en] Two artists, HONIG and Jonas David, talk to us about their latest tour in China. Be sure to check them out on November 22nd from 8pm in New Little Bar.honig1

How would you describe HONIG’s music?

It’s folky acoustic indie pop with English lyrics! That sounds horrible, but it gives you an idea of what we might sound like. It’s always better to listen to it; then you know.

With your newest album it’s not a hummingbird it’s your father’s ghost, you made a big evolution from singer songwriter to a full band. How was that transition, and how is life different from before?

The transition was very smooth because we had already played as a band for nearly two years when we recorded the album. It was actually more like recording for the first time what we have been doing live for a while.

Both HONIG and Jonas David are featured in the touring project called Tour of Tours. How did this idea come to life?

We played a HONIG concert in Berlin in 2013 and all the other bands involved with the Tour of Tours were at the show. We’d been friends for a while, and on the last three songs we invited everybody to come on stage and join us. It was so much fun that we decided to do a full tour like this. All five bands (Jonas David, Tim Neuhaus, Ian Fisher, Town of Saints and HONIG) were together on stage, playing the songs from all the bands together, so two years later we did it.

HONIG and Jonas David will play together on this tour. What can we expect now?

It is going to be like a mini Tour of Tours. We are going to help out on each other’s songs and make some music together: HONIG songs and Jonas David songs.

HONIG and Jonas David did a successful tour in China two years ago. What was your best memory of this trip?

There are so many good memories: the great people we met, the food, our tour manager!! We are looking forward to coming back to these places, meeting old and new friends and making some more memories.

Why do you feel it’s important to focus on countries like China?

For us it’s a great opportunity to play our music to people on the other side of the world. I think it’s a great way to meet people and create bridges and connections on a personal level. We are very thankful that this is being made possible for us.
