In the 1990s, a community called “Tongzilin” in Wuhou District, Chengdu, brought together more than 4,300 foreigners from 46 countries and regions such as the United States, Britain, Germany, and Japan. One fifth of the population has become the most concentrated area for expats living outside of Chengdu.
Strolling in the 350-meter-long wind and rain corridor, the staggered column structure reflects a strong European style, and the small amusement parks, squares, flower stands, floats, and outdoor bars along the street are full of charming style.
This is the European style street located in Tongzilin Community, Wuhou District, Chengdu. The traditional and modern, eastern and western living and entertainment methods blend naturally here, vividly showing a harmonious and inclusive urban spirit. Beginning in the 1990s, residents living across the ocean turned this place from a vegetable field into the first “foreigner” hometown in Chengdu.
Main Attractions
The European style street is the largest spatial span in Chengdu and located on Tongzilin North Road and Tongzilin East Road within the Wuhou District. The street is 1.8 kilometers in length and 350 meters of this is a wind/rain corridor. The staircase-shaped structure reflects the strong European style influence!
The wall along the street is inlaid with European window grilles, a European style small amusement park, European squares and open air including newsstands. As well as coffee bars, outdoor bars and European style shops, the attractions are all exquisite and elegant, with the overall aim of reflecting the aromatic and charming style of a European town!

Those wanting to “shop-till-they-drop” can enjoy the Capita Mall Xinnan which is a six-storey building situated along one of the most established shopping districts in Gaoxin. The mall is conveniently accessible via the nearby Chengdu South Railway Station, which is a major transportation hub linked to operational metro lines 1 and 7, and to Chengdu Airport via airport express line (metro line 18) that is currently under construction.
