Over March 17th and 18th, students from Chengdu International School and 11 other international high schools in China strove for victory in the 2017 Intel Cup Sichuan Science Fair.

More than 40 projects submitted by over 70 of the brightest minds in the region were examined and judged by a panel of more than 15 judges, including science and math faculty from CDIS, other international schools, Intel, and Dr. Lei Peng of Sichuan University. Of the projects submitted for the competition, the top five will advance to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in the U.S. in May where they will compete for a number of prizes valued at USD $4 million.

The CDIS students who submitted projects earned the following honors:

Participant – Hayden Smith (9th) – “Choices and Morality”
Excellent – James Schuster (9th) and Joelle Ungos (9th) – “Bactericidal Effectiveness of Ultraviolet Radiation”
Excellent – Rachel Schuster (11th) – “Building a Model of an Artificial Pancreas”
