[:en]A new high-speed rail linking Chengdu and Chongqing had its test run on December 16th
The railway stretches 185km across Sichuan province and runs a further 123km to Chongqing city. A total of 309 bridges and 38 tunnels have been built along the main line. A bullet train started its 308-km journey from the East Chengdu Station at 9am.
The highest speed reached during the trip was 302 km/h. After stopping at the 10 test stations along the track, the train arrived in Chongqing at 11:3 am.
An official of Chengdu Railway Bureau explained that after the line’s official opening, the non-stop ride will take about 1.5 hours.
