Tibet to Nepal Through Newly Opened BorderWith a strong Tibetan cultural presence in Chengdu and a lively Tibetan quarter, many of us living in Chengdu dream of visiting the region – and now 2 years after the earthquake, the border between Tibet and Nepal has reopened.

Instead of using the old Zhangmu border, foreign tourists now have access to Gyirong making for a fantastic trip. Tibet Vacation organise 7 Days Tibet Overland to Nepal in small groups up to twelve people. Unlike some other tours there aren’t hidden shopping fees and they take away all of the hassle. The overland tour starts in Lhasa, and ends at the Gyirong border, which is around 160km from Kathmandu. From here Kathmandu is an 8 hour jeep ride and could be the ideal place to bring in the new year. The views are stunning all the way from Lhasa to Gyirong. In Kathmandu, you will find very different vistas from snow capped mountains to warm sun drenched cities.

The Tibet – Nepal 7 day over land trip would be a truly unique way to spend Christmas.
