Hello!
I’m meant to be travelling to Chengdu this Monday. Is everything on lockdown and closed? What about the Panda Sanctuary? Also, the Big Buddha in Leshan? Trying to workout if it’s better to stay away.
Thanks in advance for any info.
So far most cities in the central province of Hubei (where the virus started) are on lockdown, not any in other provinces. In Chengdu and most other cities, all big events (incl. lantern festivals) and touristic sites are closed until further notice. Lot’s of shops are closed these days, but that’s normal because of Chinese New Year, should reopen in a few days. Some bars and restaurants decided to close as precaution. Some cities (like Chongqing) start advising shops, bar, restaurants and clubs to shut down.
Our chengdu no food store is open All the shops are closed
Lot’s of supermarkets are open (maybe limited hours, though that’s normal for Chinese New Year) or you can order online (Eleme, Meituan, Sam’s Club, Carrefour etc).
Sabor a Mi is also closed until Jan 30
Appreciated the update
Hi! Is Tim’s Bar-B-Q still open? We’re looking for open restaurants/bars (preferably for expats, but any is good) in Chengdu. We’ve been here for 3 days and been pretty sad that everything is closed cause of the virus, which is fair enough cause the spread is unreal.
Cheers!
Open indeed, 11:30am – 11:30pm
You could think about listing omnomnom (Russian style cuisine) in your foreigner restaurant list too 👍
Gili’s is open for dining in too… I just saw people sitting at tables and drinking and eating
Thanks for the update
Double check with them though cause maybe that was their friends haha
We double checked, friends indeed.
The bar “The office” is closed!
Grappa’s at Takooli is open.
Great food there!
Beanstalk International Bilingual School has opened according to the dates specified by the education bureau.
